About Monique

Monique is passionate about creating a space that feels safe and supportive for every person. She believes the therapeutic relationship is incredibly important and feels it is a privilege to be a part of someone’s healing journey. Monique believes in taking a holistic approach to health and wellbeing and she likes to consider the influence of the mind-body connection.

Before training as a psychologist Monique volunteered for an intersectional feminist organisation, providing support and referrals to people looking for help with a range of challenges, including difficulties with discrimination, physical and mental health challenges, legal issues and family violence. This work has framed the way Monique conceptualises health. She is interested in helping individuals to discover the ways in which their socio-cultural context contributes to their health and the way that the systems and structures in society impact wellbeing.

She draws on a mix of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based techniques and mind-body work, to help individuals understand themselves and their difficulties with more clarity and draw on their strengths to develop tools that will help them to overcome challenges.

Monique believes in supporting clients to explore their past experiences in order to develop a deeper understanding of their present challenges and to move towards a fulfilling future.
